Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve is located in the City of San Diego between the I-5 and I-15 freeways, some twelve miles north of the City's urban center. The Preserve is composed of two large coastal canyons. The scenery of the Preserve is varied, ranging from tangled riparian woodland to open grassland that rises abruptly onto brush-covered slopes. Midway down six-mile long Los Penasquitos Canyon is a boulder-studded waterfall set against an untouched backdrop of rolling hills.

The West entrance ti the canyon is right at the trail head so we have six miles of soft, wide, sometime hilly trails. The East end start is usually from the Movin Shoes store in Ranch Penasquitos. They generally open early just for us and provide us with water and the all important bathroom.
